September 2025 - Alex Apparels, Alpine Group’s Egyptian manufacturing hub, has announced a new partnership with Banlastic Egypt, a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to tackling plastic pollution and promoting sustainable alternatives across the country.
Plastic pollution is a pressing issue in Egypt, particularly in coastal fishing villages where discarded plastic waste threatens marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of local communities. With single-use plastics continuing to choke waterways and impact fish stocks, the need for scalable, community-driven solutions has never been greater.
Aspart of the collaboration, Alex Apparels has contributed half a ton of mesh fabric waste to a recycling pilot that aims to turn discarded textiles into durable, reusable shopping bags - offering a potential alternative to single-use plastic bags in local markets.
In parallel, starting in October, Alex Apparels will lead community workshops that link menstrual health education with the environmental benefits of reusable sanitary products, reinforced by the donation of 50 Dignity Kits for local women throughAlpine Group’s award-winning Dignity Kits programme.
“This partnership with Banlastic Egypt reflects our commitment to doing what we can to create a lasting positive impact in the communities in which we operate and beyond, said Clare Woodford, VP Sustainability and Impact at Alpine Group.
“By rethinking waste and investing in community-led solutions, we can help protect the environment while creating meaningful social impact.”
