The initiative addresses the critical issue of period poverty, which affects 800 million women and girls worldwide, limiting access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. By transforming post-industrial textile waste into sanitary kits, Alpine Group is providing life-changing solutions while advancing its commitment to sustainability and social impact.

How Dignity Kits are Made

Dignity Kits are thoughtfully designed to minimise waste by up cycling pre-cut materials from garment manufacturing processes. These repurposed materials are transformed into absorbent liners, offering an eco-friendly alternative to commercial sanitary pads, and are also used to create reusable underwear. Each kit includes shields and snaps—key components we invest in to ensure quality and durability. Additionally, the kits come with waterproof wash bags, detailed instructions, and menstrual cycle calendars. Designed to last up to three years, these kits provide a sustainable and long-term solution to menstrual hygiene challenges. Alpine Group also invests in the shipping of Dignity Kits, ensuring they reach communities in need.

Driving Change Where It Matters

  • Produced over 150,000 kits for women in refugee camps, rural areas, and underserved communities across the Middle East, Kenya, and beyond.
  • Empowered women through employment, creating livelihoods via local sewing initiatives in regions like Mombasa, Kenya.
  • Expanded partnerships with organisations including Freedom4Girls UK, Egyptian Clothing Bank, and Brighter Communities Worldwide, amplifying reach and impact.

Key 2024 Milestones

  • Distributed kits to 16 schools and the Kibera Slums in Kenya, benefiting over 6,330 women and girls.
  • Supported local sewing projects to promote sustainable employment for women.
  • Stayed on track to reach our UN Commitment of impacting 250,000 women and girls.

The Changemakers Award reflects Alpine Group’s ongoing efforts to combine sustainability, innovation, and compassion, creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

Clare Woodford, VP of Sustainability and Impact for Alpine Group, said: “We are honoured to receive this award for our Dignity Kits program, which addresses period poverty—a challenge affecting millions of women and girls globally, limiting their access to education, health, and opportunities.

“I had the privilege of visiting Kenya and seeing firsthand the life-changing impact of these kits. Beyond providing essential menstrual products, the program empowers communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods and delivering critical reproductive health education.

“Additionally, the Dignity Kits initiative supports our sustainability goals by diverting textile waste from landfill and giving surplus materials a new purpose through responsible repurposing.

“This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our partners and the incredible teams across Alpine Group.Together, we are showing that innovation and compassion can change the world—and this is just the beginning!”
