Since 2020, Alpine Group has been working to fight period poverty - reaching women and girls in conflict zones, refugee camps, and underserved communities across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. So far, over 150,000 Dignity Kits have been produced and distributed, helping to ensure access to education, employment, and opportunity.

But this initiative goes far beyond hygiene products - it’s about empowerment, dignity, and creating sustainable livelihoods for women around the world.

What we’ve achieved:

  • 2022: 20,000 kits distributed across refugee camps and rural communities in the Middle East. In Egypt, a partnership with the Egyptian Clothing Bank saw 10,000 kits produced locally.
  • 2023: 20,000 pre-cut pieces shipped to Mombasa and sewn by local women, in partnership with Freedom4Girls and Brighter Communities Worldwide.
  • 2024: Expanded to 16 new schools and 3 areas in Nairobi’s Kibera slums, reaching 10,975 more women and girls.
  • 2025: On track to deliver 50,000 more kits across Africa and Egypt - and expanding into India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

We’ve also committed to training 3,000 female production team members over the next four years, equipping them to turn textile waste into life-changing Dignity Kits.

In this special International Women’s Day interview with Sustainability Magazine, Clare Woodford, Alpine Group VP of Sustainability and Impact, discusses how tackling period poverty is a crucial step towards gender equality.
