In October 2025, Paradise Textiles joined partners at Northumbria University’s FibER Hub for the conclusion of the first phase of Behind the Break: Exploring Fibre Fragmentation, a pioneering research project led by Fashion for Good and The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) in collaboration with Northumbria University.
The study brought together leading brands and manufacturers -including adidas, BESTSELLER and On Running - to identify the root causes of fiber shedding and advance solutions to one of fashion’s most pressing environmental challenges. Over the course of the project, 24 fabric types were tested across multiple dyeing, construction and manufacturing processes to pinpoint how microfiber release occurs.
As a key manufacturing partner, Paradise Textiles contributed real-world materials and production insights to ensure the findings reflect the realities of textile manufacturing at scale. The results mark a major milestone in the industry’s understanding of microfiber release and reinforce the critical role of collaboration between science, innovation and manufacturing in building a more circular, low-impact future for fashion.
Paradise Textiles will continue to support this research as it moves into its next phase - scaling learnings and driving collective action across the apparel industry.
