Paradise Textiles, the material science andinnovation hub of Alpine Group, has joined Stretching Circularity, a collaborative initiative led by Fashion for Good that aims to address one of the textile industry’s most complex sustainability challenges: elastane.

Stretch fabrics are widely used across modern apparel to deliver comfort, flexibility and performance. However, even small amounts of elastane can disrupt fiber-to-fiber recycling processes, making stretch materials one of the most significant technical barriers to achieving true textile circularity.

The Stretching Circularity initiative brings together leading global brands and innovators to explore scalable solutions that can enable circular stretch materials. Participants include ON, LeviStrauss & Co., Ralph Lauren and Reformation, alongside ecosystem partners including the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Through the project, partners will test and validate next-generation solutions at pilot scale, including bio-based and regenerated elastane alternatives. The initiative aims to generate comparable data on performance, environmental impact and scalability, helping accelerate the development and adoption of more circular stretch materials across the industry.

As a material innovation partner in the project, Paradise Textiles will contribute its expertise in next-generation fiber and material development to support the testing and validation of these emerging solutions. By helping to generate robust performance and impact data, the company aims to support industry efforts to overcome one of the key technical barriers to circular textile systems.
